Dr. Feini (Sylvia) Qu is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar with Dr. Farshid Guilak in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Qu obtained her undergraduate degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Biology at Duke University (2009). She then trained as a clinician-scientist at the University of Pennsylvania, where she completed her PhD in the McKay Orthopaedic Research Laboratory under the direction of Dr. Robert Mauck (2016) and her VMD (2017) through the VMD-PhD combined degree program.

Her current research seeks to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms of digit regeneration using a mice model. This work will investigate the signals that direct cells to regenerate tissues of the digit after amputation, with the goal of identifying new approaches to promote the restoration of complex musculoskeletal tissues in adults in a clinically relevant and translatable fashion. Ultimately, Dr. Qu aims to study musculoskeletal repair and regeneration as an independent academic researcher.
